My Ten Rules to Live By are part Fr. Hesburgh from Notre Dame, part Jimmy Buffett, and THE REST have been taught to me by my wife, my children and the Juries of South Florida over the past 40 years:
1. Make your home an Island of Tranquility in a sea of chaos - The less TV the better - More time with the kids the better.
2. Fill up your Reservoir of Success - you'll need it later when things get rough - Don't be in such a hurry that you don't "Celebrate the Moment."
3. Learn from your Mistakes - Don't forget to "Traverse the Reply."
4. You have a bad attitude, Dad!
5. Don't throw your Siamese twin off the Hay Wagon!
6. The 577 Rule: Remember you cannot Win Them All!
7. Tell the Heart of Your Story - Become the best story teller that you can be! Keep It Simple!
8. "I'm not looking for greatness, but in your wisdom you may thrust it upon me." Always work to get a fair economic result for your client - Never be afraid to talk settlement.
9. Develop a strong Moral Barometer - What I am doing right now - Do I want to read about it in the Miami Herald or the Ft. Lauderdale News tomorrow morning? To keep a law partnership together, be fair with money. You have the "GIFT OF PERSUASION" in your work life AND private life. Use it for GOOD not bad.
10. Sustained Enthusiasm! - That's the true secret of success and of happiness in Everything You Do.
